Delegation of Columbia University Visits USTC
On the morning of October 26, the delegation of Columbia University, represented by Senior Vice Dean Soulaymane Kachani of Columbia University,
visited University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Vice
President CHEN Chusheng of USTC met the delegation in the Administrative
Building of East Campus and hosted a meeting in hoping to expand
further cooperation with Columbia University.
The
meeting focused on the ongoing cooperation between two universities and
opportunities and was ambitions for future research and education
collaboration as well as exchange and cooperation on educational abroad
programs for undergraduate students, master students and PhD students.
During
the meeting, both sides discussed the establishment of Memorandum of
Understanding on university level, wrapped up with the vision of
collaboration between Columbia University and Columbia Engineering and
USTC. They hoped for fruitful results of cooperation can be achieved in
the future.
After
the meeting, representatives of Columbia University transferred to West
Campus for an information session where Professor Soulaymane Kachani
shared with the USTC students the graduate programs’ requirements of
Columbia University and indicated how to plan personal growths in
academic and professional tracks.

Columbia
University was founded in 1754 as King's College by royal charter of
King George II of England. It is the oldest institution of higher
learning in the state of New York and the fifth oldest in the United
States. 82 alumni of Columbia University won the Nobel Prize so far.
