Delegation of Macquarie University Visits USTC

The delegation of Macquarie University, led by its President S. Bruce Dowton, visited USTC on Oct.16 to discuss opportunities for increasing cooperation in the future.  

BAO Xinhe, USTC President, gave warm welcomes to all guests and expressed interest in further cooperation at the meeting. 

"There is a solid foundation for cooperation between our two universities. I sincerely hope that, in the future, both of us can continue at staying close touch and conduct in-depth cooperation in various fields, such as teachers and students exchange project and scientific research."

USTC Vice President YANG Jinlong shared USTC’s achievements in talent training, scientific research and international cooperation and exchanges at the meeting.

"I am so happy to have this chance to visit USTC, and I congratulate USTC for her 60th anniversary," said Dowton. "Our School of Science and Engineering and School of Business excel in both teaching and research in the world. We expect much more cooperation with USTC in these fields.” He also gave a brief introduction about development of teaching and scientific research in Macquarie University.

After meeting USTC representatives, Macquarie University delegation visited Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at Microscale, National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, National Engineering Laboratory for Speech and Language Information Processing, USTC History Museum and Science and Technology Achievements Exhibition Hall.

Macquarie University, founded in 1964, is a public research university in Sydney, Australia. It is noted in the world for its business such as finance, actuarial science and accounting and for its science and engineering such as earth and ocean science, geography, biology and computer science.
