USTC Delegation Visited Japan
From Sep 3rd to 6th, USTC vice-president DU Jiangfeng led a delegation to Japan. President representative of foreign affairs YANG Jie, vice-minister of International Cooperation Office QU Kun, and WANG Chen participated in the visit. The delegation visited Kyushu University and Tokyo Tech, investigated alumni enterprises and held a discussion with representatives of USTC alumni in Japan.After arriving in Fukuoka on the afternoon of Sept. 3rd, DU and his delegation immediately visited Kyushu University and received a warm reception. Vice-president XUFANG Yifu of Kyushu University warmly welcomed USTC delegation, highly praised the achievements of USTC, and said that the two universities must strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the future.

On the morning of Sep 4th, USTC delegation visited the Medical Department of Kyushu University and held talks with department minister, prof. KITAZONO Takanari. Prof. KATAZONO hoped that both sides would actively promote the cooperation between professors and the exchange of students in the medical field. After the talks, the delegation visited the Immunology Laboratory, Clinical Education Center and Medical Information Center of Kyushu University to learn about the training mode of Japanese medical talents and the development status of Japanese medical information.

In the morning of Sep 5th, the delegation visited Tokyo Tech. The vice president GAOTIAN Runyi, welcomed the delegation and then introduced the current status of international cooperation of Tokyo Tech. President DU said that USTC and Tokyo Tech had similar discipline background and scientific research cooperation foundation, hoping to enhance the breadth and depth of cooperation in the future. The two sides discussed issues related to the follow-up cooperation between the two universities and hoped to implement the cooperation and exchange projects during the talks.

On Sep 6th, the delegation investigated the alumni enterprises of USTC and held a discussion with the successful alumni in Japan such as the representatives of Japan enterprises. President DU expressed his heartfelt thanks to the alumni for their concern and support for their alma mater over the years, and made it clear that as the alma mater, USTC would become a strong backing for alumni who are struggling outside and support them to achieve greater success. The alumni were very excited, and put forward many positive suggestions and discussions on the development of the university.

On that night, more than 20 alumni of USTC in Japan met with USTC delegation. President DU encouraged everyone to offer suggestions for the development of USTC. He hoped that the alumni in Japan would play a bridge role in Sino-Japanese scientific, technological and cultural exchanges.
