Vice President of the University of Adelaide Comes
On the morning of March 25, delegation ofthe University of Adelaide headed by Michael Brooks, Vice President, visited University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). DU Jiangfeng,member of the Standing Committee and Vice President of USTC, met with guests and chaired the symposium.

DU conveyed welcome on behalf of the school at the start of the meeting and then introduced to the guests the history of USTC, our advantageous disciplines and Hefei’s recent development in innovation. He pointed out that nearly 35% of undergraduate students in our university go abroad for exchange or study every year. Students from the University of Adelaide are very welcomed to attend summer camps and short-term exchange programs to enhance mutual understanding. He expressed the hope that the two schools would continue to carry out student exchange projects in depth on the basis of student exchange agreements, and in the future they could take the advantage of the strengths of two parties in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum science and medicine.

Michael Brooks said that he was very pleased to have the opportunity to visit USTC and praised the fruitful achievements of USTC in the field of science and technology, as well as the tremendous progress made by Hefei in the development of high and new technologies. He introduced the basic situation of the University of Adelaide and its advantages in agriculture, biology, artificial intelligence and medicine, and highlighted the achievements in the transformation of scientific research achievements. He looked forward to more opportunities for cooperation between the two universities in the future.

The University of Adelaide, located in Adelaide, southern Australia, is the third university in the history of Australia. Since its establishment in 1874, it has been listed as one of the Great of Eight (Go8) and ranks 114 in 2018–2019 in QS World University. Up to 2018, it has cultivatedfive Nobel Laureates, including 2 Physics Prize, 1 Literature Prize, 2 Physiology or Medicine Prizeand created 108 Rhode Scholars. Its dominant disciplines mainly include science, engineering, information technology, health, agriculture, law and so on. Its ‘Innovation Research Institute’ has been established in Singapore, France and other countries and is now plannedto establish in Hefei High-tech Zone.
