A GUIDE TO WORKING AND LIVING IN CHINA FOR BUSINESS EXPATRIATES
To facilitate the work and daily life of foreign business professionals in China, the Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant government departments, has updated the GUIDE TO WORKING AND LIVING IN CHINA FOR BUSINESS EXPATRIATES (2026 Edition). The Guidelines consist of four sections: key considerations, daily life services, residence and stay-related services, and work-related services in China. They cover a range of practical matters, including accommodation registration, telecommunications services, bank accounts, residence permits, work permits, social insurance, mobile payments, transportation, and individual income tax. The 2026 Edition also includes new information on RMB cash payments, visa-free international transit stays for foreign travelers in China, and applications for Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (non-Chinese nationals). The Guidelines are provided as a practical reference for foreign business professionals working and living in China.
